Melissa Kraft

Senior Digital Project Manager

Our open source project leader brings empathy and accountability to every collaboration.

After spending two decades in client service, project management, and digital roles, I can say with certainty that successful projects start by understanding user needs. That philosophy goes beyond identifying what organizations want out of a new website or app — it’s also about figuring out the best path to get there. As Senior Digital Project Manager, I enjoy bringing together colleagues and clients to explore pain points, brainstorm solutions, and craft beautiful digital experiences that improve people’s lives.

While I started my career in communications — another critical part of project success — I was drawn to open-source development when working on a site refresh for a former employer. Over the years, I’ve led Drupal and WordPress projects for major universities, research institutions, nonprofits, and state governments. My goal is to always take a solutions-oriented approach that alleviates stress for my team, and I’m passionate about mentoring others to do the same.

Walking helps me feel strong physically and creatively, so you’ll find me logging at least a couple of miles outside every day, regardless of the weather. I also have a deep love for the Muppets, which was on full display during my Muppets-themed wedding to my husband of nearly 20 years!
