Class is now in session! Even though we think he’s a little too cool for school, our newest team member is a passionate educator and unapologetic Drupal fanatic, sharing his platform knowledge with the local community, and beyond.
John Picozzi is an adjunct professor at Johnson & Wales University, co-host of the Talking Drupal podcast, and Oomph’s newest team member! John will be helping our clients build, update, and maintain the module solution of their dreams, as a Drupal developer on our delivery team. He started his academic obsession when he graduated Cum Laude from Johnson & Wales with a bachelor’s degree Web Management & Internet Commerce, as well as an associate’s degree in Website Development. He was asked back to JWU to school youngsters in client-side development, a topic near and dear to his heart. “Through my career a lot of people took time and energy to teach me the ropes of web development, and by teaching I feel I can pay that forward to the next generation. I teach client-side development, specifically, because it’s important for students starting out in the web dev/design industry to have the fundamentals down. I can’t think of a more crucial foundation to a career in tech”
As for his Drupal mania, John says he loves the platform so because it quickly takes care of the difficult busy work, allowing him more time to focus on what makes projects great. “Using Drupal solves the easy stuff—Things like user authentication, content management, and e-mail signup, to name a few,” says John. “This allows me to focus on the clients needs, wants, and current site’s pain points. In short, Drupal allows me to build amazing solutions for our clients.” John keeps abreast of the latest in platform news via his weekly podcast, his involvement in the Providence Drupal Meetup group (which he co-founded), and regular attendance of Drupal Camps and Cons around the country. Says John on his endless appetite for Drupal education, “This industry Is always changing and advancing, if you aren’t learning every day you can’t service your clients and won’t succeed.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
We’re proud to have an platform maverick like John on the Oomph team, and are excited to see what he can do with a bit of learning, a pinch of podcasting, and a whole lot of Drupal. Welcome, John!
